Mercy
Trucks' 10th Anniversary!
MERCY TRUCKS was founded in 1997, as a volunteer humanitarian organization that works to link resources to needs by using various forms of logistics including trucks, shipping containers and mobile medical units to undertake relief initiatives with speed and efficiency as well as putting together longer term community development projects. Mercy Trucks operates under the umbrella of Marine Reach and Youth With A Mission (YWAM), the latter having bases in over 1,100 different locations around the world. Mercy Trucks is able to make use of these bases in the countries where they work. Marine Reach is the ship ministry of Youth With A Mission and operates ships, trucks, helicopters and other resources providing volunteers with a platform to serve in areas of need around the world. Mercy Trucks is the main part of their Truck Ministry. Everyone, including the trustees, directors and charity coordinators of Mercy Trucks work on a voluntary basis, therefore no personnel costs are incurred by the charity, allowing 100% of money donated to go for the intended purpose.
For the last 10 years, the people of Ibiza have been very supportive and as part of Mercy Trucks 10th anniversary, we are organising a fundraiser dinner dance to take place in Ibiza on October 26th. Marine Reach the umbrella organisation for Mercy Trucks, are bringing one of their ships “Next Wave”, a 42 metre training ketch, to visit Ibiza from October 10th-17th. This ship serves as a training platform in which a range of projects take place. The main objective is for the vessel to bring training to future leaders, staff and volunteers, equipping and enabling them to work in various humanitarian and reconciliation efforts around the world. The vessel will serve as a floating training base focusing most of her time in the Mediterranean Sea region with a major focus in the Middle East, and North Africa. She is licensed for 25-30 students plus 4 school staff and 12 crew members. Registered out of Liverpool UK, it is hoped that Ibiza may become her Mediterranean home port.
This sailing ship (ketch) is a floating school; providing training for
volunteers who want to go into missions and voluntary overseas
development work. In January, Mercy Truck volunteers will drive the
next wagon from the UK down to Guinea Bissau in West Africa where we
are working on establishing healthcare infrastructure. The wagon we
took down last year has been modified to self load and to carry second
hand 20 foot shipping containers and work is continuing to convert
these shipping containers into mobile medical and dental units. Our aim
is to empower the newly trained volunteers and to support them with the
infrastructure and equipment they need to run the existing Mercy Truck
projects and also pioneer exciting new projects around the world. If you would like more information about Mercy Trucks projects, please email info-uk@mercytrucks.org or phone 0870 126 9120. Please consider partnering with us by sponsorship. Donations can be made in a number of ways:
