Emergency Response
Mercy
Trucks is a new organisation established by Roy and Catherine Dixon who
live in the North East of England. Roy originally had a company building
golf courses in the UK and Europe. For this he used an articulated
lorry-trailer fitted out inside with showers, bedrooms, kitchen,
laundry, office etc. This twelve man team accommodation unit was
completely self sufficient and fully mobile, able to travel to where it
was needed. Roy and Catherine realised that there was more to life than
picking stones on golf courses so they trained then worked with
humanitarian organisations in several countries. This was so fulfilling
they decided to follow their vision and form Mercy Trucks. It is felt
that most people want to help and do something meaningful in life and
Mercy Trucks is a platform where people from all walks of life can come
onboard and do much needed work, either at home or overseas.
It is our intention to have many Mercy Truck
units doing good works around the world. The Mercy Truck units have a
secondary trailer with a versatile inventory of machinery and equipment
and all crew members will be required to undertake training programs.
Under normal circumstances the teams will undertake regular good works
on many locations around the world, however, the logistics of the Mercy
Truck system allow for an effective "Emergency Response"
standby facility, should a disaster occur within reasonable travelling
distance of their current location. The units will be able to help in
disaster areas with work such as earthquake relief, crop planting after
floods and droughts, medical and feeding programs for displaced people
etc. |
