Minefields to Cornfields

The "Minefields to Cornfields" project is aimed at helping our sister organisation De-Mining Systems and many other organisations to operate efficiently on landmine removal projects. This will be done by providing back-up support during de-mining operations and later on with helping to rebuild the communities once the landmine removal work has been completed. De-Mining Systems will be operating their new MDM (Modular De-Mining) machine. This is not just a machine but rather an entire system of working that covers not just the detection and removal of mines but also care and support for the whole community. This system can actually turn minefields into cornfields.

The types of work undertaken will include the same as the "Hearts and Hands to Help" projects plus other post minefield works such as counselling, prosthetics clinics and helping communities to recuperate. A great deal of thought has gone into this comprehensive and modular system to ensure that it continues working long into the future and the established infrastructure that is created, is easily maintained by the local people.
