Mercy Trucks West Africa Project

Roy left Hexham on the 9th of January 2008. He then left Harpenden after packing the truck with equipment in the late afternoon of Thursday 10th. On this and further pages we will be publishing his accounts of his journey to Guinea-Bissau.

To Tuesday 5th February

Since leaving Tangiers, Roy has been able to make excellent progress, making up for a lot of lost time. Crossing the desert, he drove over 2,000 km in two days. The north Mauritania border held him up for a day, and then he had to stop in the capital Nouakchott.
Despite those short delays, he arrived in Dakar, Senegal, very early this morning. He successfully met up with the outreach team from Marine Reach's s/y Next Wave and they will leave for Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday, hoping to arrive on Friday.
